In the heart of Bucharest, some buildings do more than exist \u2014 they remember and carry meaning. Hotel Ci\u0219migiu has been one of the city\u2019s quiet witnesses for over a century. <\/span><\/h4>\n


\nFrom the <\/span>Belle Epoque<\/span><\/a> to the elections of 2025, its windows have watched a city transform and redefine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It has stood through wars, regimes, celebrations and transformations. In its chambers poets gathered, ideas sparked, businesses were built. From its windows, it has heard the chants of street protests or the cheers of joy when the Romanian football team scored its best game at the World Soccer Cup.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And last night, another <\/span>event<\/span><\/a> took place at the Hotel Ci\u0219migiu.<\/span><\/p>\n

May 2025: A City\u2019s Voice, a Country\u2019s Choice<\/span><\/h3>\n

On the evening of May 19, 2025, Hotel Ci\u0219migiu once again stood at the center of a moment destined for history books.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nicu\u0219or Dan, former mayor of Bucharest and civic reformer, was elected President of Romania after a dramatic and decisive vote. As the results of Romania\u2019s presidential election were announced, the <\/span>streets<\/span><\/a> below Hotel Ci\u0219migiu became a tide of light, voices and hope. Thousands gathered here, waving EU flags and chanting for what his election represented: a choice for pro-European values, integrity and civic spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n

His campaign headquarters was right here, inside our hotel. One of the hotel\u2019s balconies became a stage where the new President greeted the crowd gathered on the Regina Elisabeta Boulevard.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a moment that carried emotion, <\/span>memory<\/span><\/a> and meaning \u2014 the kind of moment this hotel knows well. From up above, we watched a moment that will be remembered for years. One guest wrote on Facebook:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMereu mi-a pl\u0103cut Hotel Ci\u0219migiu! Asear\u0103, l-am admirat ca niciodat\u0103! Dac\u0103 p\u00e2n\u0103 acum era o legend\u0103, asear\u0103 a devenit simbol!\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

(\u201cI\u2019ve always loved <\/span><\/i>Hotel<\/span><\/i><\/a> Ci\u0219migiu! But last night, I admired it like never before. If until now it was a legend, last night it became a symbol.\u201d)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We couldn\u2019t have said it better.<\/span><\/p>\n

It began as the Palace Hotel, a beacon of French-inspired elegance in a modernizing <\/span>Bucharest<\/span><\/a>. Through the interwar period, it was a gathering place for writers, intellectuals and cosmopolitan guests. During communism, it served another role \u2014 as student housing.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the early 2000s, Hotel Ci\u0219migiu was carefully <\/span>restored<\/span><\/a> – its heritage was preserved, but its spaces were transformed to meet the needs of a new century. Today, it offers 4-star comfort in spacious modern apartments, in the neighbourhood of the <\/span>Old Town Bucharest<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
