Two foreign landscapists – Wilhelm Mayer and Franz Harer – created this beautiful garden during the reign of Gheorghe Bibescu – in 1882, it was electrified. In summertime, Cișmigiu Garden hosted popular celebrations, sports competitions, lake-side runs, boat rides, swimming competitions, and even Romania’s first boxing match. There are some tourist attractions in Cișmigiu Gardens, such “The Writers’ Circle” (Rondul Roman), that exhibits busts of 15 Romanian writers: Eminescu, Odobescu, Maiorescu, Caragiale, Coșbuc, Iosif, Creangă, Vlahuță, Zamfirescu, Hasdeu, Bălcescu, and Alecsandri. “The Citadel” is the ruins of a monastery built in 1756, from which a secret tunnel led to Crețulescu Palace on the bank of the Dâmbovița River and “Sissi Stefanidi Spring” is the statue of a young woman who died at the age of 21, depicts her mother pouring water from a pitcher, with the inscription “Dedicated to my dear child.” 

How to get there – the park is basically a 3 minute walk from the hotel. 

Botanical Garden (Grădina Botanică)

Floreasca Garden
