This calls for a cultural trip, we might add. So don’t miss an awe-inspiring experience right in the heart of the city. Start at Cișmigiu, an English-style garden, two centuries old. It can take you 10 minutes to cross the park, but let’s be serious: this is for people on the run. Just see what we recommend and explore the hidden gems - without any guide. Read more for a little inspiration! Note! Visiting old buildings is one of the most tempting things to do in Bucharest. And might be addictive, too.

Things to do in Bucharest - a walk on the old streets

Textures with a good touch of sobriety. Small turrets, monumental outer stair, ceilings with wood-engraved ornaments. Elegance and beauty. A very fashionable building, from the end the 19th century - a real mansion as never seen before in the city.

Stop at The City Hall Palace where some of the most important things to do in Bucharest are decided. Built before the Great Union of 1918, this edifice is all about power and traditions. Neo-Romanian style, the shape of a square, an impressive facade. You’ll be surprised to see a building made by one of the greatest Romanian architects, Petre Antonescu. And guess what? The palace’s construction failed to begin five times. It is really hard not to find out why, right?
