Things to do in Bucharest in December

As we’ve mentioned, you have a variety of things that you can do and enjoy in the Capital in this lovely season. From shopping to visiting, to discovering events or taking trips close by the city - the choices are yours. But we’ve prepared below a few suggestions to inspire you, so enjoy the reading!

#1 Bucharest Christmas Market

Opening every year at the end of November and running until the 26th of December, the Bucharest Christmas Market is a sheer delight. Located in the Constitution Square, it awaits you with mulled wine, Christmas goodies and presents, an entertaining program and many more surprises. All you have to do is drop by and take in the great Christmas atmosphere.

#2 Shopping session at the Mall

If you haven’t managed yet to buy all the presents for your loved ones, the Bucharest Malls are all up for business and ready to help you find the perfect gifts for those you cherish. A trip to Baneasa Shopping City will surely help you get inspired and you won’t leave home empty-handed.

#3 Exploring near Bucharest

If you also want to enjoy the surrounding of Bucharest, there are a few options that you can discover. Mogosoaia Park is great for taking in the lovely air of Romanian architecture and nature and it’s only a few km away from the Capital: Mogosoaia Palace from the 18th century, Bibescu Grave Mausoleum (the last owners of the castle), Saint George Church, a lake and a beautiful forest with large alleys, few restaurants, and terraces.

You can also choose to drive for 2 hours to Sinaia. Sinaia is a town in central Romania’s Bucegi Mountains, surrounded by ski trails. Its 17th-century Sinaia Monastery was once a royal family residence. German neo-Renaissance Peleș Castle, now a museum, has Klimt frescoes and stained-glass windows. The smaller, neighboring Pelișor Castle has a half-timbered facade. Across the Prahova River, the George Enescu Memorial House is the former home of the Romanian musician. This trip will be wonderful, as also the drive up to the station will reveal for you great sights.

Be sure to take advantage of this wonderful Holiday season and enjoy Bucharest as never before!
